Johnsmas Foy 2009 - Opening Event
May 29th 2009This years Johnmas Foy begins on the evening of 18th June with an opening ceremony in the Shetland Museum and Archive at Hay's Dock, followed by the official opening of the dramatic 'Sails in St Magnus' exhibition in the same venue.
Shetland Islands Council Convenor Sandy Cluness will formally open the Foy, while the General Manager of Shetland Amenity Trust, Jimmy Moncrieff, will open the Sails exhibition in the company of two of the original artists from Orkney - Dave Jackson and Erlend Brown - who will also provide visitors with guided tours of the exhibition during the evening.
The opening ceremonies take place at 6.30pm, are open to the general public and entry is free of charge.
