Shetland Flag Day Competition
The longest day of the year, 21st June, is offically recognised as Shetland Flag Day and visitors and locals are invited to join in the celebrations by flying the flag.
In 2009 we held, for the first time, a photo competition to find the most interesting and unusual locations you have flown the Shetland Flag, or have seen it flown or displayed. This could have been somewhere you had been on holiday, visited as part of a sporting or school trip, in front of a famous place or landmark, at the top of a mountain or even on a deep sea diving trip.
Of course it didn't necessarily have to be restricted to actual flags themselves. We welcomed photos of other Shetland flag related displays – perhaps as part of a garden design, a painted vehicle, a t-shirt, or face or body painting. The possibilities were endless.
