Rognvald's Journey

Wednesday 24 June @ 7.30pm (doors 7.00pm) - Shetland Museum and Archives, Hay's Dock, Lerwick
Friday 26 June @ 7.30pm (doors 7.00pm) - Haroldswick Hall, Unst

Journey back to the year 1151 in the company of Orcadian saga man Tom Muir, Strathpeffer's master story-teller and musician Bob Pegg and clarsair Bill Taylor, as they relate the tale of Rognvald's Journey, and bring to life his pilgrimage to Jerusalem through story, verse and music.

Based on the near contemporary account in the Orkneyinga Saga, this swashbuckling tale of advernure and romance, accompanied by music from the same era played on gemshorn and recorder and also on instruments strung with gut, brass and horse hair.

Rognvald's Journey was one of the hits of the Edinburgh International Storytelling Festival, greeted with a rapturous reception from a sell-out audience.

The Rognvald's Journey is also the inspiration for the Sails in St Magnus exhibition which will be on display in the Shetland Museum and Archives throughout the 2009 Johnsmas Foy.
