Visit of Norwegian M/S Haugefisk

Wednesday 24 - Sunday 28 June from 12noon to 6.00pm daily M/S Haugefisk

Where: Albert Wharf, Lerwick

Haugefisk was originally built in 1976 as a first generation fishing vessel with shelterdeck for longline fishing in the North Sea, Atlantic Ocean and Barents Ocean. It is steel built,  32m long 329 gross tons and powered by a Alpha 660 hp engine. In 2005, Haugefisk lost its fishing quotas at which time the Coastal Museum of Sogn og Fjordane took over the vessel and started the restoration process.

During the visit, there will be an exhibition on board: Longlining for dogfish, which, in photos and film brings us back to the 1950s and to the fishing grounds off Shetland. There will also be a presentation of the museum on board.
