Visit of Norwegian M/S Nybakk

Sunday 21 - Friday 26 June from 12noon to 6.00pm dailyMS Nybakk

Where: Albert Wharf, Lerwick

As part of the Johnsmas Foy's continuing maritime connections we are delighted to welcome the Norwegian vessel 'Nybakk' back to Shetland to coincide with this year's Foy.

Originally built in 1961 as a fishing vessel, the 26m wooden built 'Nybakk' visited Shetland many times throughout her working life. At 147 gross tonnes and powered by a Callensen 460 hp engine the vessel is in effect now a floating museum.

During the visit, the crew will be serving the traditional Norwegian salt-fish dish 'Baccalao' to any visitors who may wish to sample it.

For further information, please contact Shetland Islands Council, Economic Development Unit, tel 01595 744944 or email development@shetland.gov.uk or visit the M/S Nybakk website.
